Dec. 6 Vigil

Please join us at the December 6th Vigil as we remember the 14 women who were killed because of their gender in the Montreal Massacre at l’École Polytechnique on December 6, 1989, and as we honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Dr. Neil Bose, Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic) will be emceeing the event this year with opening remarks by Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor, and a representative from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The guest speaker will be Lisa Faye, Executive Director of the St. John’s Status of Women Council and a graduate of Memorial University. For the past 20 years, Ms. Faye has worked throughout the world in community development, youth empowerment and supporting citizens to speak up for their rights.
