Feeding 9 Billion: A Food Security Challenge Event
Friday, Nov. 17, 5:30 p.m.-12 a.m.
Did you know that 90 per cent of produce in N.L. is imported?
Did you know that 4.99 per cent of people in N.L. access food banks?
Did you know that in 2015 there were only 400 farms in N.L., compared to 3,500 in 1951?
Do you see a problem with these statistics?
So do we.
The Feeding 9 Billion (F9B) challenge is an opportunity for students at Memorial to learn more about food security issues in Newfoundland and Labrador and to brainstorm innovative solutions. These solutions might include business ideas, research initiatives, educational curriculum, policy changes, and any other idea you might have!
Join us Nov. 17-18 to talk about our food systems, connect with other students across all campuses, and compete for over $2,000 in prizes to kick-start your ideas!
