Memorial University will host the annual conference of the Film and Media Studies Association of Canada/l’Association canadienne d’études cinématographiques et médiatiques (FMSAC/ACÉCM) from May 20-22, 2026, inclusive. This gathering will bring together a diverse community of scholars, students, and creative practitioners to the St. John’s campus to share their work.
Program highlights include the Martin Walsh Memorial Lecture, delivered by Germain Lacasse; the Sylvia D. Hamilton Dialogues at The Rooms, featuring Indigiqueer filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist Glenn Gear alongside artist and advocate Rachel Gilbert and Ife Alaba, creative producer and Director of Occupy All Spaces; an interactive documentary commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Tamil Sri Lankan refugee lifeboat rescue in Newfoundland; and additional film screenings throughout the conference.
