An Introduction to Economic Evaluation in Health Care

People’s Health Seminar Series. Dr. Hai Van Nguyen Health Economist, Assistant Professor School of Pharmacy, to present. Dr. Nguyen is a health economist. He joined the School of Pharmacy at Memorial University of Newfoundland in September 2016. Previously, Dr. Nguyen was an Assistant Professor in Health Services and Systems Research Program at Duke NUS Medical School and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Toronto. Dr. Nguyen obtained his Ph.D. in Economics specializing in Health Economics from Concordia University in 2009 after completing his Master’s degree in Economics from University of Cambridge. Dr. Nguyen has published in leading health economics, public health and medical journals and is actively involved in policy consultancy. Dr. Nguyen conducts empirical research into health-related behaviours, health outcomes, economic evaluation and policy evaluation. He has special interests in tobacco control, physical activity, pharmaceutical pricing, and genomic medicine. His works have been published in leading health economics, public health and medical journals such as Journal of Health Economics, Tobacco Control, and Ophthalmology. His publications have been picked up by media outlets such as CBC, Globe and Mail and Daily Mail.
