Thursday, Sept. 14, 5-6 p.m.

Dr. Richard Fagan Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Medicine

The medical school 50 years on: Its impact on Newfoundland and Labrador’s health-care system.

Dr. Edward Roberts, who was the minister of health from 1969-72 when the medical school began, will be at the faculty as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations. In 1971, it was Dr. Roberts who announced that the Newfoundland government would phase out the old General Hospital in St. John’s and replace it with a new $24 million hospital on the campus of Memorial University.
