About the Gazette

The Gazette is Memorial University’s official news site and flagship communications channel.

It began its print life when Volume 1, No. 1, was published in mimeographed form on Aug. 2, 1968.

It was then published biweekly from 1968-69 to 2003-04, and published every three weeks thereafter until its last printed issue rolled off the presses on Jan. 27, 2016. You can see the issue, a retrospective of just some of the memorable moments collected over almost 50 years, on Memorial’s Flickr account.

Memorial’s Digital Archive Initiative, hosted by Memorial University Libraries, houses a digitized collection of the entire Gazette print collection.

In its digital format, you can receive Gazette stories and Memorial University events directly. Reach out to the editor to be subscribed to Gazette Now, a biweekly digest delivered via email every second Wednesday.

We also share Gazette stories via Memorial’s Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn socials. Don’t forget to follow along.

Feedback is always welcome and encouraged, as are story ideas and submissions.
