Dr. Fereidoon Shahidi

Dr. Fereidoon Shahidi, university research professor in Biochemistry, has received the Milliporesigma/Nicholas Pelick – AOCS Research Award from the American Oil Chemists’ Society.
The award, which recognizes outstanding original research in fats, oils, lipid chemistry, or biochemistry, includes a plaque, a $10,000 honorarium and a $1,500 travel stipend.
Dr. Shahidi is an internationally recognized scientist in the area of nutraceuticals and functional foods, particularly in food lipids and natural antioxidants. His research has concerned both basic and applied areas of lipid science and technology and he is one of the most highly cited scientists in the areas of food, nutrition, and agricultural sciences.
