WISE N.L. Board Elections

Several members of the Memorial University community were recently elected to the board of the community organization Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) N.L. Past-president Lori Hogan, computer engineering lab instructor, Memorial University, continues as president. Susan Fudge, fisheries biologist, Marine Institute, returns as vice-president. Dr. Laura Halfyard, general manager, Sunrise Fish Farms Inc., formerly of the Marine Institute, joins past WISE N.L. program administrator and Memorial University alumna Carly Bigelow as co-director of the Student Summer Employment Program, WISE N.L.’s flagship and award-winning student engagement program. Memorial retiree (Biology/Engineering) Carolyn Emerson is treasurer. Anke Krutof, ‎PhD candidate in oil and gas engineering, is director of membership, and Memorial University alumna Rosana Reyes is director of the Speaker Series. Jennifer Smith is the WISE Graduate Student Society engineering representative, and Heidi Pickard is the WISE Graduate Student Society science representative. Ashley Osmond is the WISE Undergraduate Society engineering representative, and Fallon Piercey is the WISE Undergraduate Society science representative. Memorial University alumna Sherri Breen is the WISE N.L. program administrator. Women in Science and Engineering Newfoundland and Labrador is a not-for-profit, voluntary network of individuals working together to promote and support women in their discovery of and success in STEM fields. WISE N.L., active in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1988 and incorporated since 2006, provides supportive networks, mentoring, career exploration, and professional development.
