Moravian History and Music

Three Memorial researchers presented a thematic session at the recent Fifth Bethlehem Conference on Moravian History and Music in Bethlehem, Pa. Dr. Tom Gordon, professor emeritus in the School of Music, presented his research on Natanael Illiniartitisijok — Inuk composer. Dr Tim Borlase, research associate at the Labrador Institute, presented a paper titled Exploring Through Theatre the Inuit Identity of Labrador’s Youth and its Changing Relationship with the Moravian Church. Dr. Mark David Turner presented recent research titled Loss and Continuity in the Brass Bands of Nunatsiavut. In addition, Dr. Gordon was invited to participate in a round table discussion on the current state of Moravian music research.
