A New Strategic Framework for the CIHR Institute of Aging and Overview of Summer Program in Aging

Thursday, March 30, 12:30-2 p.m.

Online

Dr. R. Jane Rylett, FCAHS, Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Aging (CIHR-IA), Distinguished University Professor, Department of Physiology, Pharmacology Scientist, Robarts Research Institute Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Western Ontario, will outline the new CIHR Institutes of Aging (IA) Strategic Framework and the CIHR-IA Summer Program in Aging to the Research Exchange Group on Aging at NLCAHR.

When the CIHR Institute of Aging’s former Strategic Research Plan (2019-2021) concluded, the CIHR-IA launched a strategic planning process to identify priorities for research on aging in Canada, seeking a range of opinions and advice from across Canada as they developed this new strategic plan. The CIHR Institute of Aging hopes to align research priorities in aging with the new CIHR Strategic Plan 2021-2031: A Vision for a Healthier Future.

Dr. Rylett will also tell us about the CIHR Institute of Aging annual Summer Program in Aging (SPA) which is designed to offer students and post-doctoral fellows involved in aging research, and those doing post-graduate clinical training that includes a program of research in aging, an advanced research training program that crosses disciplines, sectors, institutions and geography and that addresses one or more of the CIHR Institute of Aging’s priority research themes.
