Andean Cat Conservation and its Challenges

Dr. Mauro Lucherini, a leading conservationist in South America, is visiting the Department of Geography.  Mauro is presenting a talk on the Andean Cat Conservation and its challenges on Friday, September 8, 2023, in SN 2025, at 3 pm.

 

This talk will take attendants through a review of the 25 years long history of the efforts to understand the ecological requirements to conserve the  Andean cat – one of the most endangered felids globally – and its natural habitats in the High Andes.

 

Mauro has worked in the High Andes on the endangered Andean Cat, jaguars and many conservation projects in Argentina and bordering countries. He founded the Andean Cat Alliance, a NGO, focused on ecological and social initiatives to achieve conservation for the rare cat.
