Atlantic Provinces Linguistics Association 2024: Language, Diversity and Inclusion
Friday, Oct. 25, 11:50 a.m.-6 p.m.
Online
Following from UNESCO’s sustainable development goals, the theme for 2024 Meeting of The Atlantic Provinces Linguistics Association (APLA) is “Language, Diversity and Inclusion” and serves to check the pulse on how linguistics and language-related fields of study have positioned themselves with respect to these goals. In the spirit of building capacities for community engagement, APLA 2024 invites both scholars and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds to learn from each other and generate partnerships around shared interests.
APLA meetings have traditionally been a platform for discussion focusing on language varieties – those spoken and used in the Atlantic region of Canada – but the conference does not have any boundaries in terms of empirical or theoretical coverage. We invite all linguists, language-related researchers, and community partners in language-related research as well as any interested stakeholders to this open and stimulating event.
We eagerly envision a weekend of sharing experience and research among scholars, members of medical, political, educational, Indigenous communities and organizations, as well as other public stakeholders interested in language-based research and/or its roles in achieving global Sustainable Development Goals.
APLA 2024 takes place online on October 25 and 26.
