Can Rubrics Help Democratize Our Classrooms?

Tuesday, May 30, 2-3 p.m.

Online

This event is part of the CITL Instructor Series for Spring 2023.

Presenter: Dr. Jeanne Sinclair, Faculty of Education.

Rubrics are a widely used method for communicating expectations and feedback to students. How can we maximize rubrics for effective feedback/feedforward? In this session, we discuss how rubric-based assessment can build collaboration, inclusivity, and student ownership of learning. We will also focus on using rubrics to generate higher-order thinking (i.e., critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity). Dr. Sinclair  focus the session on meaningful and pragmatic rubric use, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own rubrics to the session to share and exchange ideas.
