Celebrating Cultural Diversity: Canada Day Celebration with International Students and their Families

Tuesday, June 30, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Global Learning Centre (Internationalization Office)

Join the Internationalization Office as we celebrate Canada Day to honor the rich cultural diversity, stories, and contributions of MUN’s international students and their families!

Together, we will honour the journeys, traditions, and experiences that make our community vibrant and welcoming. Through art, storytelling, food, and connection, we invite you to celebrate the many cultures that help shape Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Community Photo Exhibition: Share 2–3 photos that reflect your culture, family, community, or journey to Canada, along with a short story or caption. Selected submissions will be displayed during the event. Submission deadline: June 26. Send photos to: international@mun.ca

Weaving Connections Activity: Explore traditional Newfoundland and Labrador weaving practices and contribute to a collective community weaving piece that celebrates our interconnected stories and cultures.

Children’s Cultural Arts Workshop: Children are invited to participate in creative art and clay activities inspired by culture, family, belonging, and life in Newfoundland and Labrador. Storytelling activities about Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador will also be included.

Community Lunch: Enjoy lunch together while meeting fellow students and families from around the world.

Cultural attire is warmly encouraged! Wear clothing that reflects your culture, heritage, or personal identity as we celebrate the diversity of our community.

Registration: Please register here: Registration Link. This event is funded through the Newfoundland and Labrador Multiculturalism Grant Program (NLMGP) by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM).
