CHMR Radio Celebrity Alumni Karaoke Fun-Raiser

Thursday, Dec. 4, 7-10 p.m.

UC-1004

CHMR-FM – the campus/community radio station located at Memorial University – is holding a celebrity alumni fundraiser event on December 4, bringing well-known media personalities and performing/recording artists to the stage to perform an eclectic combination of songs.

The celebrity alumni karaoke fundraiser will feature the likes of CBC’s Heather Barrett and Ariana Kelland, VOCM’s Russell Bowers and Richard Duggan, recording artists Darrell Power (ex Great Big Sea) and Zay Nova, with more to be announced. The evening will be hosted by award-winning singer/songwriter and CHMR News Director Colleen Power, who says, “Singing karaoke along with your heroes from the media and stage will be the most fun!”

CHMR is one of the oldest and most well-established community radio stations in the province, and has been around in various forms since 1951. During that time it trained thousands of students as well as community volunteers, hundreds of whom have gone on to professional careers in radio-broadcasting, journalism and the arts. As the province’s only hands-on radio-broadcast training facility, the station also serves the broader community by providing innovative, community-oriented music and spoken word programming, from K-pop to Newfoundland folk, from jazz to natural history and ecology programs.

Please join CHMR FM for a fun night of karaoke, featuring your favourite media personalities and performers who came though CHMR, either with their own programs, or as part of our news department!

Admission is pay what you can, with a suggested donation of $20. All funds will go toward keeping CHMR-FM operations running
