CITL Instructor Series: Helping Students Be Reflective and Resilient Through Design Thinking

Tuesday, March 10, 2-3 p.m.

Online; ED-1001

The presenter for this session is Dr. Jana Rosales, Professor (Teaching), Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, St. John’s Campus

Design thinking is an iterative approach to problem-solving: rather than jumping straight to solutions, design thinking emphasizes empathy, idea generation and prototyping to tackle complex challenges. The process is cyclical, meaning you learn and adapt as you go. While rooted in engineering and product design, it’s a mindset that can foster creativity, resilience, and reflective thinking across a number of other contexts.

In this interactive session Dr. Rosales will draw on the Design Your Life framework by Burnett and Evans and use real examples of reflective e assignments to explore how design thinking can help students across disciplines to develop skills that support resilience and adaptability. Whether you teach in the sciences, humanities, or professional programs, this session offers adaptable tools to make reflection more engaging and meaningful.

Registration is required for this event.

This event is part of CITL’s Instructor Series. For additional CITL events, please visit our full calendar.
