CITL Instructor Series: Podcasting as an Assessment Approach

Tuesday, March 11, 2-3 p.m.

Online; ED-1001

The presenter for this session is Dr. Rachel Prowse, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine.

Podcasting can be a dynamic assessment approach that engages students creatively while offering an alternative to traditional assessments.

In this session, Dr. Rachel Prowse from Memorial’s Faculty of Medicine will share how she implemented this type of assessment in her graduate level Professional Practice course in an effort to enhance critical thinking, communication skills, and subject mastery. There will be an opportunity to hear about Dr. Prowse’s strategy for designing the podcast-based assessment, and learn from the feedback offered by students about their experience. This presentation aims to provide participants with information to help them assess whether this approach would be appropriate in their own course(s).
