Online

Memorial’s Boreal Ecosystems and Agricultural Sciences (BEAS) program at Grenfell Campus in western Newfoundland trains graduate students in agronomy, soil science, hydrology, land and water management, and plant science, all in the context of boreal ecosystems. Research focuses on sustainable cropping systems, precision agriculture, soil health and the effects of land use change and climate change on managed and natural landscapes. Students work with faculty in a close-knit campus of about 1,300 students and use the Boreal Ecosystems Research Facilities, which include advanced labs and field equipment. The PhD is the only one of its kind in Atlantic Canada, with a focus on both managed and natural boreal ecosystems.
