Join Dr. Sukhinder Cheema, a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, as she shares her personal journey from completing her education in post-partition India to becoming a nutritional biochemist and professor at Memorial University.
She will discuss the challenges encountered as an immigrant and a woman of color in the scientific community, highlighting the importance of resilience and the rewarding moments that have shaped her career. Finally, she will address the critical issues surrounding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), exploring the barriers that persist and the ongoing work needed to foster a more inclusive environment in academia and beyond.
