Did you know that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) causes drugs that we rely on, such as antibiotics, to become ineffective and infections to become increasingly difficult or impossible to treat? In fact, the World Health Organization has declared that AMR is one of the top global public health threats. November 18-24 is World AMR Awareness Week. Join us for a Healthy Discussion about how and why we must using antibiotics more wisely in order to preserve their effectiveness for the future. We’ll be joined by Dr. Peter Daley, infectious disease physician and Co-Chair of the Provincial Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, and Dr. Elhamy Samak, a family physician practicing in Burgeo, and President-Elect of the NL College of Family Physicians.
