How early career experiences shape teachers’ approaches to classroom assessment.

Details and how to register: Classroom assessment is a fundamental component of standards-based education systems across Canada and is critical to supporting student learning and achievement. However, several decades of research on teachers’ assessment practices have continually shown that teachers struggle to engage in high-quality assessment practices. In order to enhance the use of these practices, it is critical to understand how early career experiences influence teachers’ approaches to assessment. This presentation will explore how early career experiences impact teachers’ approaches to assessment in both Canada and around the world.

Moderated by Andrew Coombs, Doctoral Student, Faculty of Education
