Immigration and Employment: Barriers, Bridges and Benefits

Wednesday, Oct. 13, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Online

Immigrants bring not only skills and experience to their new workplace, but also new ideas and new opportunities for both their place of employment and their community. However, immigrants still face a multitude of barriers to finding suitable employment. At the same time, employers all over Canada are facing a labour shortage—one that will only get worse as the population continues to age.
How can government, business, and society bridge the gap for both employers and newcomers?
Join the Harris Centre (sponsored by the Future Skills Centre) via Zoom as we speak to Aleksandra Stefanovic (Lennika Consulting Inc.), Sheri Abbott (Employment Development Manager, AXIS, Association for New Canadians), Dr. Tony Fang (Jarislowsky Chair in Cultural and Economic Transformation, Memorial University), & Michael Clair (Consultant, Former Assoc. Dir. Public Policy at Harris Centre) about these issues.
