Indigenous Disability Canada: Supporting Indigenous People with Disabilities

Please join us on Oct. 28th at 2:00 pm NST as we celebrate the end of Disability Employment Awareness (DEAM) with this presentation from Indigenous Disability Canada.

Indigenous Disability Canada is an internationally recognized and award winning, national Indigenous not for profit, Society serving the unique and diverse disability needs of Indigenous peoples across Canada. IDC/BCANDS is a “stand alone” organization and is one of the only organizations of its type in Canada.

This webinar will provide:

– A general overview and introduction to Indigenous Disability Canada/BC Aboriginal Network on Disability Society

-Some of the statistics/information gathered through the NINS program regarding client demographics and common disabilities served, barriers faced by clients and service providers, and the medical fees for required documentation to access disability benefits.

-An overview of how the NINS program works with a focus on the Disability Tax Credit and some of the benefits/programs connected (i.e., Registered Disability Savings Plan and the Canadian Disability Benefit).
