Intellectual Property and Commercialization
Thursday, May 27, 1-2 p.m.
Online
For researchers and entrepreneurs interested in commercialization, it is important to have an intellectual property (IP) strategy. This seminar will provide a high-level overview of the types of IP, and how they are used as part of your business plan. It will also discuss how IP strategy planning should begin at the same time as planning your research program and funding applications. A proactive approach will align IP and research goals. Learn to coordinate the timing of IP protection with your publications or your pitches to potential investors.
The seminar will also discuss the benefits of engaging Memorial’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization Office early with an invention disclosure, as well as the office’s role in engaging external patent attorney advice and other commercialization resources.
Presenter, Noel Courage, is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP, a leading Canadian intellectual property law firm. He is a lawyer and a US and Canadian patent agent.
