Macro Photography and iNaturalist Workshop with Nature NL

Saturday, Aug. 24, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

306 Mount Scio Rd., St. John's

Nature NL is hosting a macro/bug photography workshop on August 24th from 10am – 1pm. Please note that sign up is required prior to the event (stay tuned for event registration information – registration is not yet open).

Whether you have a DSLR or a smartphone, learn how to take close-up photographs of insects, spiders, and other critters in this workshop led by entomologist and photographer Sean McCann. Content will include tips on finding and photographing small subjects in nature, what to focus on if you’re hoping to identify species from photographs using iNaturalist, lighting, and more! Bring whatever photography equipment you already have (a smartphone is fine). There will be opportunities to try out equipment (like clip-on macro lenses and flash diffusers) that can help you up your bug-photography game.

This workshop will be in-person at the Memorial University Botanical Gardens. The event is free of charge. Registration is required (and will open in early August).
