The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a network of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. Created through the Arctic Council, UArctic is committed to upholding its principles of sustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Memorial University has been an active member of UArctic since 2004, engaging within UArctic’s Board of Directors, Thematic Networks, Student Ambassadors, and a current memorandum of understanding for the UArctic senior leadership position of Vice President, Northern Community Engagement.

UArctic will be hosting an upcoming “Meet UArctic” session and a Q&A meeting for members. The January session is dedicated to UArctic’s 2024 project calls and will be held on January 17th, 2024 at 16:00 UTC. The monthly online sessions are open for all UArctic member institutions who wish to participate.

The session will be hosted by Pirkko Pulkkanen, Manager of International Projects; Sheila Downer, Vice-President Northern Community Engagement; Kristmundur Þór Ólafsson, Programme officer at the University of Iceland; and Ingvild Svestad, Senior Advisor at at UiT the Arctic University of Norway.
