False narratives aren’t new, but social media and digital platforms have enabled the rapid spread of harmful content that demand a more careful and critical evaluation of content being viewed and shared. Memorial University librarian Louise McGillis will provide an overview of misinformation, including what it is and how it spreads. She will offer suggestions on how to detect fake news and how to become part of the solution that limits its spread.
