Ocean Startup Activator N.L. Edition

Tuesday, March 11, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

CSF-5310

Dive into the Blue Economy at the Ocean Startup Activator – NL Edition, an exciting in-person event designed for students, researchers, innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs. Join us on March 11 at the Core Science Facility at Memorial University of Newfoundland for a day filled with inspiration, collaboration, and competition focused on tackling the challenges facing our oceans.

Throughout the day, you’ll engage in dynamic ideation exercises, team-building activities, and hear from industry leaders. This is your chance to brainstorm innovative solutions to real-world problems in the ocean sector. You’ll also be exposed to valuable resources and support to help you on your entrepreneurial journey.

Exciting Prizes Await! Thanks to our event partners, Genesis and econext, we have $900 worth of prizes up for grabs.

  • 1st Place: $400
  • 2nd Place: $300
  • 3rd Place: $200

For this Ocean Startup Activator participants can expect the challenge statements to fall under Sustainable Seafood or Autonomous Vessels & Robotics. Additional details will be presented on the morning of the Activator. You do not need to have a background, knowledge or experience in these areas to participate. We encourage those that have no exposure to these industries to participate to bring an outside perspective with unique ideas to solving these real world problems.

Teams for the Ocean Startup Activator should consist of 2 to 4 members. You’re welcome to come with your own team, or if you’re attending solo, don’t worry! We’ll have a team formation activity where you can easily connect with other participants and form a team on the spot. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow innovators, share ideas, and collaborate on tackling the challenges presented throughout the day. Whether you arrive with a group or join one during the event, everyone will have a chance to contribute and compete for exciting prizes!
