Polynomial Identities, Representation Theory and Growth Functions

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 10:30-11:45 a.m.

A-2065

From Sept. 20-23, Professor Antonio Giambruno from the University of Palermo will give an introductory mini-course on the combinatorial theory of polynomial identities in algebras. In this setting a major tool is the representation theory of the symmetric and general linear groups. The mini-course will consist of three lectures, starting with an introduction to the topics mentioned above and then investigating various problems related to the growth of the space of polynomial identities. More details, including times for each session, can be found at https://www.mun.ca/aac/mini-courses/antonio-giambruno/
