Regional MATE ROV Competition (SCOUT Class)
Friday, May 3, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Marine Institute, Ridge Road campus, St. John's
On May 3, teams from junior high will compete in the 2024 Regional Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Competition in the SCOUT division!
The MATE ROV competition is an underwater robotics challenge that engages a global community of learners each year.
The competition will take place at the Marine Institute (MI) campus at 155 Ridge Rd.
Teams are required to design and construct an ROV that must complete a series of tasks while deployed in MI’s flume tank. The competition challenges teams to build and ROV with the necessary tools, technology and sensors to monitor and observe the health of marine ecosystems and biodiversity and unlock solutions to ensure the health of the world’s oceans.
The SCOUT competition will begin at 9:00 am and will conclude at 5:30 pm with an awards ceremony to follow.
