Saturday Morning MED Talks: Gender Affirming Care – Learning Objectives
After completing this Saturday Morning MED Talks, participants will be able to:

  • Apply inclusive language and communication strategies to create safer, more accessible clinical spaces for gender-diverse patients
  • Initiate and manage gender-affirming hormone therapy in primary care, including first-line treatment options, and safety monitoring
  • Navigate referral pathways and documentation requirements for transition-related surgery in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Identify and address systemic barriers to gender-affirming care and implement practical strategies to improve access and service delivery
  • Integrate evidence-based, patient-centered approaches that honor individual gender journeys while applying clinical best practices

Target Audience: Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Residents, and Other Health Care Professionals

Format: Hybrid (In-person and Virtual). The Webex link will be emailed to registrants on Friday, February 27, 2026, in the afternoon.

Location & Parking: Room 1M101 – Dr. Richard Fagan Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University. After entering through the glass doors, the first room is on the left. Registration is at the Atrium. Parking is next to the Faculty of Medicine Building (Lot 30).
