Science on the Rock: How the Tablelands Are Contributing to Space Exploration
Monday, April 28, 7-8 p.m.
Quidi Vidi Tap Room, St. John's
Welcome back to Science on the Rock (emphasis on the “rock”)! We are joined by Dr. Penny Morill to learn about how the Tablelands are contributing to space exploration. As always this event is FREE and all brains are welcome!
“Canada has been contributing to space exploration for decades from the Canada Arm, to instruments on landers and rovers, to Astronauts. In this talk, we will explore a little lesser known contribution, our rocks. Canada’s cold and dry climate as well as our well-preserved rocks are being used as analogues for planetary bodies and moons to test space operations, technology, and methods. This Science on the Rock will focus on research occurring at Memorial University helping in the search for extra terrestrial life using the Tablelands as a Mars Analogue.”
