Science on the Rock with Dr. Catherine Scott: Dangerous Liaisons
Tuesday, March 5, 7-8 p.m.
Quidi Vidi Brewery
Join us in welcoming Dr. Scott for a very exciting Valentine’s Day presentation about spider love on the Science on the Rock stage!
“When you look at a spider’s web, you probably see a clever trap for capturing insects, but spiders use their silk for much more than just predation. In this talk you will get a closer look at the private lives of spiders and their surprisingly sophisticated sexual behaviour and communication, from web-based personal ads to silk-wrapped gifts. Travel with a spider on its quest to find a date without becoming dinner, and along the way learn how a former arachnophobe’s fear transformed to fascination while studying the mating rituals of black widows.”
