Learn how to use Paraview to unlock key insights from your data.
Imagine being able to see how water is actually flowing around a ship when you’re designing a greener propulsion system. Imagine designing an enclosed space and being able to see how droplets containing Covid-19 disperse when people cough.
Scientific visualization of large datasets allows you to identify critical areas and vulnerabilities during the design process so that you can focus efforts, cut design time and create a better product. Imagine how you could use it in your research, and then join us to learn how to use the open source software Paraview to create scientific visualizations on your desktop.
Scientific visualization can be applied across a number of areas, including engineering, material science, sensor/drone data, geospatial, and life sciences. This beginner, hands-on workshop will introduce participants to scientific visualization on both a conceptual and practical level.
Following an overview, the session will focus on teaching participants how to use Paraview visualization software on their own desktop. This will be followed by a demonstration on how Paraview can be used on a supercomputer for datasets that are too large for desktop or workstations.
This session will be delivered online.
Participants must register using their institutional / organizational email address (not a personal email, ie. gmail).
Participants must have a computer with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.). As with any on-line course, a headset and a second monitor will be of benefit.
