Social Media Use in the Classroom

Tuesday, June 13, 2-3 p.m.

Online

This event is part of the CITL Instructor Series for Spring 2023.

Presenters: Dr. Adrienne Peters, Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Director of Criminology, Department of Sociology
and Laura Squires (M.A.), Project Coordinator at fasdNL.

Limited research suggests that social media is a tool that can positively impact student engagement in the online classroom, which is especially relevant in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic and learning formats transitioning online. Dr. Adrienne Peters and Laura Squires explore how social media tools could provide a platform and an opportunity for engagement between students and the instructor outside of the traditional, formal classroom setting.
