LSPU Hall, 3 Victoria St., St. John's

Sound Symposium XXII: July 15-21, 2026 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Since 1983, Sound Symposium has been opening ears and experimenting with sound right here in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Every two years, local and visiting artists gather for this week-long extravaganza of cutting-edge electronic music, folk traditions from around the world, premieres of contemporary classical music, the Harbour Symphony, gallery exhibits, film screenings, installations, improvisation, dance, workshops, late night jam sessions, and more.

Sound Symposium participants and audience members alike learn from and inspire one another throughout the Symposium, collaborating, sharing, improvising, and creating a unique artistic community together. Local and visiting artists offer workshops, participate in spontaneous creative happenings, and develop meaningful and lasting connections, all while pushing the boundaries of their own artistic practice. With dozens of free and paid events in concert halls, public spaces, pubs, and one-of-a-kind venues throughout St. John’s, Sound Symposium XXII has something for everyone – we hope to see you there!
