Stephen Eckert presents a program of contemporary piano works that reflect on their teachers, including the late Dr. Kristina Szutor and Dr. Gary Graham. Music by Charlotte Bray and Juro Kim Feliz interpolates those by Memorial’s own Robert Humber (Bmus ‘17) and Dr. Clark Ross. With desperately driving rhythms, fragile quotations, and explosive virtuosity, these composers sound out the complex whirlwind of loss. Emotionally frank, this program reflects on memory, grief, and gifts for which we can never repay. Dear Teacher is a eulogy, an expression of gratitude, and a demand that we witness the love around us.
