The Future of Our Fisheries and Oceans in the Face of Climate Change

Tuesday, Oct. 26, 12-1 p.m.

Online

The fisheries remains the backbone of many NL communities. Change has been a part of fisheries life for a very long time, but the pace of change has dramatically increased and forecasts for the future of the fisheries – wild capture and aquaculture – are very uncertain. Will northern cod return fully? What other changes can we expect in fish stocks? How will the further  development of aquaculture benefit  communities and possibly influence the capture fisheries? And what steps must be taken to ensure that the fisheries continue to play a central role in the lives of residents of the province?

FEATURING:

Brad deYoung (Memorial)

Cyr Couturier (Marine Institute)

Erin Carruthers (FFAW)

Mariano Koen-Alonso (DFO)
