The Gong Show

Wednesday, April 5, 6-8:30 p.m.

CSF-1302

Are you curious about research taking place at Memorial’s Faculty of Science?

The faculty is hosting a fun new event where students are challenged to explain their research to the public in an easy-to-understand way in three minutes or less.

If a presenter uses too much jargon, or the audience has trouble following along, the audience is encouraged to “interrupt” by making noise and “gonging” the presenter. The presenter will then have to stop and explain their research more clearly.

Judges for the event include Jeremy Eaton, CBC; Justin Fong, Quidi Vidi Brewery; Heidi Kavanaugh, Holy Trinity High School, and Amanda Mews, NTV.

The Gong Show, which is part of the Faculty of Science 2023 Scientific Endeavours in Academia interdisciplinary research conference, will take place Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. in the Core Science Facility, room CSF-1302 (off the Whale atrium).

Admission is free, and all are welcome. Limited free parking will be available in Lot 16A or Lot 27 and a reception will follow.
