The James Webb Telescope (JWST) is the most complicated and expensive telescope ever built. Will this successor to Hubble change the way we look at our universe like Hubble did? This talk by Dr. Rick Goulding will be a brief tour through the development, capabilities and mission of the JWST and events leading up to its imminent launch in December of this year.
Dr. Goulding is a long time member of the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at Memorial. He’s interested in amateur astronomy and all things science, spreading the word of science where he can.
Non-members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada St. John’s Centre are welcome to attend. Email info@stjohnsrasc.ca for the Zoom link to the meeting. Details at: http://stjohnsrasc.ca/meetings/meet-nov-2021.shtml.
