The Role of the Bystander: Introduction and Skill Development

As part of our New Employee Orientation (NEO) Program, People and Culture will be hosting a series of online information sessions to help support employees’ onboarding. To sign up for a session, please click here to register.

Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault does not only affect those directly involved, our university community can be impacted as well. We have a shared responsibility to prevent and address sexual violence at Memorial and in the larger environment we live in. This session is designed to introduce participants to the notion of bystander responsibility and help them recognize inappropriate behaviour that requires intervention and addresses how to intervene. The session covers topics that are sensitive and can be disturbing for some. This session will be facilitated by Amnesty Rose, Advisor, Sexual Harassment Office, and Katie Hayward, Associate Advisor, Sexual Harassment Office.
