The Science of the Arts: Dr. Matt Russo

Tuesday, July 16, 7-8:30 p.m.

Johnson Geo Centre, Signal Hill

“Listening to the Cosmos”

Although sound can’t travel through the vacuum of space, we can still use our ears to experience and explore the wonders of the cosmos. Matt will share the story of how combining his passions for music and astronomy led to helping NASA make the universe audible.

Dr. Russo is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto, co-founder of System Sounds and My Starry Night, and regularly produces sonifications for NASA.

Admission by donation.

This talk is part of our Science of the Arts Series. 2024 was named the Year of the Arts in our province, and to celebrate we’ve put together this exciting event series that will explore the relationship between Arts and Sciences. Are these two worlds as different as they sometimes appear? Join us as we hear guests of all backgrounds give their take on this interesting intersection.
