Transparency in Learning and Teaching: Creating Clearer Assignments in the Age of AI

Thursday, Oct. 22, 1-2:30 p.m.

ED-1001; online

The facilitator for this event is Carolyn Best, Educational Developer, CITL

Students often struggle to interpret assignment instructions and understand what is expected of them. When expectations are unclear, students may turn to generative AI for guidance. The evidence-based Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework helps instructors make assignments clearer, reduce unnecessary barriers to assignment completion, and create more equitable learning experiences for students in any discipline.

In Part A (October 22), participants will explore the research behind TILT and learn the core components of the framework.

In Part B (October 29), a hands-on workshop, participants will revise one of their own assignments by exploring practical examples and using the TILT framework.
