Internationally recognized as one of the premiere chamber music ensembles of our time, the American Brass Quintet is hailed for its peerless leadership in the brass world. A recipient of Chamber Music America’s highest honour, the Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award for significant and lasting contributions to the field, the group’s rich history includes performances on five continents, a discography of over sixty recordings, and the premieres of over one hundred fifty contemporary brass works. Committed to the promotion of brass chamber music through education, the American Brass Quintet has been in residence at The Juilliard School since 1987.

Hailing from Torbay, Newfoundland and Labrador, trombonist Hillary Simms became the first female member of the ABQ. Upon her 2023 appointment, Hillary joined the faculty of The Juilliard School having previously served on faculty at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
