Whale-y Wednesday: Primary/Elementary Session

Wednesday, March 22, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Online

What’s bigger than a blue whale? Kids’ curiosity about the ocean! Join Let’s Talk Science Outreach and Memorial University for a virtual session of interactive activities, with a focus on the opera singers of the sea — majestic whales — along with a hands-on experiment about how the health of itty-bitty creatures can affect even the creatures at the top of the food chain.

This 60-minute session is recommended for students in primary/elementary across Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. This session is being presented as part of Memorial’s Big Splash, a province-wide initiative to share all the amazing ocean-related work happening at our university and in our communities. #BigSplash. We can’t wait for you to dive in on this fun session!

(10:40am) Activity #1- Whales and their songs

(11:00am) Activity #2- Biomagnification experiment
