What Do Universities Owe the Public? Public Keynote and Panel Discussion

Wednesday, May 28, 7-9:30 p.m.

Signal Hill Campus

All members of the university and the public are invited to a free panel discussion that will ask the question “what do universities owe the public?”

This session, moderated by CBC NL’s Adam Walsh, will explore this important question, especially in relation to engagement with communities and the public.

Featuring a keynote address by Dr. Ted Hewitt, President of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and panel discussion featuring Dr. Barbara Neis, Professor Emerita, and Honorary Research Professor with the department of Sociology, and Dr. Chief Mi’sel Joe, Traditional Saqamaw and Newfoundland District Chief for the Mi’kmaq Grand Council.

All are welcome to attend on May 28th, 2025 at 7:00 PM (NDT) at Signal Hill Campus, or virtually. Register here to attend (in-person or online). A reception will follow.
