The Winter Tent Gathering is a time to welcome Indigenous students, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, staff and faculty back to campus for another semester. This is also a time to reconnect, meet new friends, and to enjoy some traditional food and drumming.
In partnership with First Light St. John’s Friendship Centre, Memorial Student Life and the Indigenous Student Resource Centre on the St. John’s campus, the Winter Tent Gathering will be taking place on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of Juniper House at 208 Elizabeth Avenue.
The event will be happening inside Juniper House should weather conditions not cooperate. In the event of a university closure due to weather, the event will be rescheduled to Friday, Jan. 23.
