Committee seeking input and ideas on teaching and learning

Since the establishment of the Teaching and Learning Framework in 2011, great advances have been made to refine and build upon the teaching and learning experience for faculty, instructors, students and staff in all corners of the university.

Input and ideas

EnvisionTL@Memorial is a committee composed of faculty, staff and students appointed by the provost from across campuses.

The group is seeking input and ideas from the university community as it assesses the outcomes of the current Teaching and Learning Framework and develops recommendations for a renewed framework, including new and integrated approaches to program delivery, curriculum development and student services/support.

“The Teaching and Learning Framework Strategic Plan 2014-17, which grew out of the original framework, takes us to March 31, 2017, presenting an opportunity to look back on the success and strengths of the first framework, build upon them, and move forward with a renewed vision for teaching and learning at Memorial that reflects the current and diverse academic needs of students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Rob Shea, chair of the committee.

The committee wants to hear from the entire university community — and they are asking respondents to ponder their vision for teaching and learning at Memorial.

How to contribute

The university community can contribute to the process in two ways: 1) by sharing thoughts and ideas through an input form that can be found here; or 2) meeting with committee members during an open consultation period at the St. John’s campus from Feb. 9-10 or at Grenfell Campus from Feb. 1-2.

To book a time to meet with the committee during the consultation period in St. John’s, contact here. In-person consultations at Grenfell can be scheduled here.

The deadline to complete the input form is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.

For further information on the work of this committee and to discuss other opportunities for consultation with faculty, staff and students, contact Kim Myrick, committee member and manager of the Teaching and Learning Framework.
