Faculty and staff of the St. John’s and Marine Institute campuses and their spouses are invited to attend this year’s annual Retirement Planning Seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 24, in the Engineering building’s main lecture theatre (EN-2006).

It doesn’t matter where a person is in their career; everyone is welcome to attend, from new employees planning for their future to those nearing retirement.

“The Retirement Planning Seminar has become a very popular event in recent years,” said Stephen Dodge, director, Department of Human Resources.

“Last year the seminar was at capacity with approximately 200 people in attendance and we are expecting a similar attendance level again this year. I encourage anyone interested in attending to register early to reserve their space.”

During the seminar, Glen Roberts, Memorial’s manager of benefits and pensions, will speak about the university’s pension plan and post-retirement benefits. Perry Power from Service Canada will speak about the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security Benefits, a representative from Memorial’s pensioners’ association (MUNPA) will speak, and Chris Facey with Facey Financial will provide a presentation on the subject of financial planning.

“With this full-day seminar, our goal is to provide people with the information they need to make plans for their retirement,” said Mr. Roberts. “Feedback from past participants has indicated that they have found this session to be very helpful.”

To register for the seminar please see here.
