Nominations for Memorial’s most prestigious faculty award are being accepted until April 1.

The John Lewis Paton Distinguished University Professorship is named after the founding president of Memorial University College.

“I encourage colleagues and friends of Memorial to consider nominations.” — Dr. Richard Marceau

The award recognizes exceptional research, teaching and public engagement activities. Recipients are honoured with a lifetime designation of Distinguished University Professor along with a grant of up to $20,000.

Nominations can come from any member of the university or wider communities. Nominees must embody Memorial’s mission by demonstrating exceptional teaching, undertaking world-class research and sharing their knowledge and expertise widely.

“The John Lewis Paton Distinguished University Professorship is an important faculty honour,” said Dr. Richard Marceau, vice-president (research). “Through our research awards and honours program, Memorial recognizes the outstanding contributions of our faculty members. I encourage colleagues and friends of Memorial to consider nominations.”

Established in 2013, past recipients include Dr. Sean Brosnan, Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science and Dr. Patrick Parfrey, Faculty of Medicine.

More information about the award, its terms of reference and what materials are required for nomination packages are available online.
